School Picnic

No school year is complete without its school picnic, and on Thursday, Dec. 14th parents, teachers and scholars of the Warkworth District High School journeyed to Snell's beach for their annual outing. The weather was perfect and the air soon resounded with the shrill cries of delighted youngsters who disappeared with a splash from the logs they had rolled down to the sea from the shore. Lunch under the trees was followed by races for young and old, games in in the sand, castle-building, stream diversion for the budding engineers, and, for Uieless energetic, a quiet rest in Jbhe shade. Late in the afternoon the children assembled and attendance and athletic certificates were presented by Mr John Morrison, chairman of the school committee. The headmaster, Mr L.L. Grice, congratulated the prize-winners, and the day concluded with the inevitable "lollie-scramble." The thanks of all are due to the energetic committee who made the day such a success, and to those who providing transport and other amenities did scr much to make it possible.
