AN APPRECIATION.
The chairman of a village presentation committee was anxious to "say a few wurrds in public whin the sarjint ov police was gittin' praised ,skoy hoig-h, as well as a prisint."
When the opportunity came he concluded his remarks by saying: "Wan wurrd more an' Oi've finished- Few ov us here need till be towld ov Misther Gilroy's koindniss ; he was a grate man fur nawt hurtin' inywan's feelin's. He'd axe yez fur on obligimint in sich a way yez cudn't refuse, an' kaep in yer graces so well yez cudn't think iv axein id back agen."
