COMMITTEE'S RECOMMENDATIONS. Wellington, June 26 The Conciliation Committee appointed *o consider matters in dispute between the railway officers a d the Department concluded its sittings yesterday. It recommends the following :—That the bonus now paid to members of the first division be cancelled as on and alter April Ist, 1930, and a bonus at the rate of £2O per annum be granted to each member of grade 8 (cadets).; that a bonus at the rate of £SO per annum for gratis 2 to 7 inclusive and to captains/pastes and engineers of the [Lake Walrarapa service, be granted as on a,nd after April Ist, 192 q; that the' bonus recommended for grades 2 to 7:be£taken into consideration in respect to salaries of members of grade 1; that lodging allowances for sub-grades 1,2 and <3 bo £4O, £3O and £2u respectively. Married members’ mini mum raje of pay to be £lB7 la per annum, casual clerks to be eligible. Advances to the minimum. rate of pay are provided for grade 7. Hours of duty to be worked by- officois at centres to be specified, the latter fixed at 88 per week; hours at other places to be 48 per week with time off for work in excess of that period. Seven hours to constitute an “All Night” fhift. Special provision is recommended governing Sunday work and the scale of Sunday pay ranges from 4s an hour for officers in receipt of over £270 per annum, to 2s 3d for those getting not more than £165, the bonus to be considered in assess-in-2 the rates of pay. Annual leave to be brought to uniformity with the public service provisions, and limitation to 42 days ; accumulation to be cancelled ; the leave rota to bo for officers Other recommendations axe made for increased travelling advances and for redaction of time necessary for a member to serve in any grade to qualify for maximum superannuation allowance in respect to such grade. The other recommendations are of minor importance.
