MANGAWEKA NOTES.

A large and particularly fine herd of Polled Angus cattle passed through Mangaweka last week on their way to a grazing run at Raetihi. Dalgety and Co held a very successful sale on account of Mr Paton on tho late Mr J Munro's property. Prices were very satisfactory. The_ same firm also held a sale at Mr" Dalziell's on Thursday last and again had a very good sale, Mr Dalziell leaves very shortly for his new home in Waikato district. Mangaweka Returned Soldiers held their second dancp here on Friday last and it proved a vary successful evening. Mrs Webb, of Tain ape, supplied the music and the floor was crowded with happy dancers, who kept going until the small hours of the morning. A number of friends of Mr and Mrs Oleary got together and gave them a surprise party one evening last week and a most enjoyable time was spent in music and cards, the purpose being to do honour to their Catholic Queen, Miss Smith. The Gun Club held their second shoot for Mr Turnbulls trophy on Sacurda'y afternoon. The weather was xather showery and this was a drawback. Mr Allan Wright succeeded in wining first place and Mr Hugh Johnston and Mr H Signal tied for second place.
