MARTON BAND CARNIVAL

An enthusiastic meeting of the Carnival Conimitee formed to secure fands for purchase of new instruments was held last evening in the Jockey Olub rooms. Mr S J Gibbons presided. A letter was received from Mr Owen Carlston offering to organise a Revue during the Carnival period and the ecretary was instructed to •write to Mr Carlston askiug what remuneration he would ask for his services. The Committee decided to hold a concert at a date previous to the Carnival and will if possible endeavour to secure ihe services of Mr Fred Burke, vocalist, of Auckland, for the occasion. It was also decided to grant Mr Joe Walker a free hand to organise "stunts" to colleot funds. All ladies who are willing to assist the Band are cordially invited to attend the Coronation Hall tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon at S p.m. to draw up the necessary Hubcommittees to ensure the success of the Carnival.
