; s London, June 9 London newspapers give prominence to a report of the Hon. Watt's resignation from the Federal Ministry. The Daily Chronicle describes it as a snrprise resignation. It adds that Mr Watt wanted to discuss with the Home authorities certain problems connected with emigration to Australia.

Interviewed at Wagga, Mr Hughes disclaims all knowledge of Mr Watt's resignation or the reasons for it. He said the newspaper re ort fairly astounded him as Mr Watt had evsn boasted of the extended powers conferred on him. Mr Hughes is awaiting official advice. lie added that the news would not affect his country holiday. Several Ministers interviewed expressed surprise and astonishment, and they are entirely in the dark. Some quarters suggest friction between Mr Hughes and Mr Watt and otners attributed his action to the recent Federal calarios grab over which there is much heart burning throughout Victoria. Mr Watt's decision accentuates Government's difficulty occasioned by the voiding of the Eallarat election
