AT MARTOS, The annual Obrysnok he S Flower, Vegetable and FrreEfe ."',' under the' auspices of St AadL. Ju Presbyterian Church, is - -. er . in the Town' Hall, Mar ton. Yesv • » day's opening was a most success-!, one, the many magnificent bloom. attracting great attention. A number of usw varieties of chiysantlie-* mums were in evidence, and the> colouring of most exhibits was much better than last year. This year's; line display is all the more wonderful iu view of the stoppage of the trains and the fact that many exhibitors had to be motored to the Show. Mr F Westbury, Taita, was highly successful, securing nine firsts. There is a fair showing of fruit, apples being a strong section. Vegetables, too, make a very good showing, and generally the Show is better than usual. A bright little concert programme was arranged for the evening. The Digger's Orchestra, a new combination, of six players, rendered selections in accomplished manner. Miss O Beard sang and was recalled, and two wee Highlanders, sons of Mr Glasgow, Turakina. had to repeat their dance. A bevy of a dozzen damsels picturesquely attired in gaily coloured flowing robes of Japan, gave a pleasing tableau. Their quaint dancing and sweet singing made a big his and they had to reappear.
