News has been received that the strikers at Tota works at Jamshedpur after presenting their demands, collected at the works and began stone-throwing. The crowd was surrounded by soldiers who fixed bayonets and charged the crowd, who laid bare their chests offering to die at once, rather than slowly by starvation, and demanded the expulsion of Indian workers from inside the' works. The military were then ordered to tire. Sabotage on the railway was attempted and tno line is being guarded.
Delhi, March 17 Latest reports from Jamshedpa rl states that the shooting caused panic amongst the strikers, who are keeping* quiet. The railway line and station are reported safe. The actual casualties were ten killed and 25 wounded.
