TAIHAPE NOTES.

A young man named Tucker was admitted to Taihape Hospital last week suffering from injuries to both hands which became entangled in a wire rope whilst ho was working at a sawmill near Kaotihi. It was found that Tucker had sustained the loss of all his fingers, the thumb only being left on each hand. At the monthly meeting of Taihape Fluuket Society, Nurse Mcßride reported that there were 133 babies on the list, and during the mouth 108 homes 1 ad been visited and 60 callers had been received at the district offices. Taihape Bowling Club has decided to send a team to Huntervillo on 25th inst to try to recover the Hum Cup which was lost by Taihape Club last season. At a special meeting of Taihape and District Returned Soldiers’ Association on Friday, it was decided to abandon the present proposal to establish a Returned Soldiers’ Club at Taihape, The Maori Committee which has been raising funds for the Soldiers’ Memorial recently netted £ls 5s 6d from a social and dance, and the total raised to date by the Maoris is nearly £3OO. At a meeting of the committee of Taihape and District Patriotic Society, Mr A Leighton tendered his resignation as, secretary, and Mr M F Potts was elected in bis stead.
