FLAX AGREEMENT.

In the industrial agreement made between the New Zealand Maxmillers 1 Association and the Manawatu Elaxmills’ Employees Industrial Union of Workers on March Ist, the following conditions of rates of pay, etc, wore agreed to :—Day work 15a 6d per day; feeders 2s per hour;, stripper keeper, 2a 6d extra; horse drivers, £4 11s per week, automatic scutchers, 17s and 13s per ton; hand scutchers, 31s 6d per ton; paddocking, with carting, 83s per ton summer, and 46s winter; paddocking, without carting, 24s summer and 87s winter; compulsory stacking 2s 9d per ton for compulsory stacking of fibre to be added to paddocking rate: flaxcutting, 6d per ton increase on all blocks at present being cut only, minimum 8s 6d; tramming 3d per ton increase where old rate has not been restored. The rate to he charged for board to be 34a per week. This agreement may bo terminated by 30 days’ notice by either side of their intention to do so, and a conference of both parties to be called immediately to deal with any issue that may be involved.
