STRATFORD ELECTION ENQUIRY

Per Press Association Stratford, March 16, Up to luncheon the Court was occupied with the .examination of persons whoso naturalisation was assailed. Sir John Findlay said the time had come when there should be uniformity in respect of proceedings for naturalisation. One witness who claimed British nationality, said he had been two years in the Kansas Legislature, U.S'.A., witnoutbeing an American citizen, and without any question of naturalisation. One woman seemed under the impression that her husband had gained naturalisation through having served with the settlers who took up arms at the time of the Parihaka raid. Resuming after lunch, the bench announced tnat an examination of counterfoils would bo ordered to aseertairi what counterfoils were not numbered.;; Books with unnumbered counterfoils would not necessarily be rejected, but information was needed in view of legal argument later. Mr Myers closed his case after examining alien voters, and Sir John Findlay opeued with similar witnesses. The position of these aliens will be argued later.
