RONGOTEA NOTES.

From Oar Own Correspondent. The monthly meeting of Rongotea School Committee was held on Monday evening, Bth March. Present: Messrs A Taylor (chairman), T Mitchell, H J Ransom, J O Glover, L Yarrall, R A Callander, Rev. O "W Solmon and the headmaster Mr P Klme. The headmaster reported as follows:—The roll number when the school broke up was 135. Since the school resumed there have been 16 pupils admitted and 13 have left, the roll number at' end of last week being 138. The average attendance for the three weeks is 128, or 94 per cent of the average roll. It was resolved to build a cupboard in the school to hold cups, etc., in connection with the supplying of hot cocoa through tne winter months. The secretary reported a supply of firewood for jfche coming winter having been secured. The committee wish to thank all those who assisted at the recent picnic, especially Messrs E Gardner and Jas. Duke, also the directors of Rongotea Dairy Co. for the use of their electric lorry, and Mr W Bayliss for his careful attention in driving the children to and from the grounds of Mr H J Ransom, who so kindly placed them at the disposal of the committee to hold the picnic, which were most suitable for holding a day’s outing, and as a railway and whirligig had been erected, together with the numerous races and games everyone had a real good time, grown-ups included, The Education Board have discontinued the manual training classes in woodwork and cookery at Rongotea for the present, bnt may decide to reopen Shorn later on.
