HUNTERVILLE NOTES.

From Our Own Correspondent) A farewell social and dance was tendered to Mr and Mrs Holloway and family in the Sandon Block Hall on Friday, February 28th, when a largo number of residents assembled to bid farewell to their old and respected friends who have resided in the district for a number of years. The hall was decorated with flowers and evergreens, which made the surroundings very congenial. The supper was left in the hands of the ladies who carried out their duties to the letter. Mr Holloway was presented with a couple of handsome Morris chairs, a very useful and acceptable present. Mr H. Phels played the accompaniments ct the piano, and Mr J, Cole oifi°i a ted as M. C. "-an-. The opening of Huuterville Croquet Club’s handicap pairs tournament was held at Mrs S. R. Mair’s residence on Thursday last under most favourable conditions, the weather being exceptionally fine, amid very pleasant surroundings when the lawns were well crowded with spectators, who watched the games in progress with keen interest, this belli 0 " the first croquet tournament held "'in Hunterville.
