THE GUESSING COMPETITONS. The three fat sheep donated by Messrs James McGregor, F. K. H. Brice and J. H. McLean, turned the scale at,lß4%lbs (freezing weight). A number of guesses were hazarded, Mr A. McLaughlan, Marten, coming first with 1851 bs ; Mr H. Stantiall, Greatford, 185%1b5, 2; and Mr L. R. Whale, Greatford, lSs*4los, oSeveral guesses ranged from 1801 bs tolß3lbs. _ _ The fat beast donated by Mr Alex Stuart turned the scale at 5481b5. Messrs J. Griffin, A. Honeyman, and F. G. Schwarz (Marfcon) tied for first and sceofid prizes with 547%1b5. There were several wild guesses, ranigng from 300 to 8501bs.
FAT LAMBS FOR EXPORT, , The lambs were killed at Kakariki yesterday morning and the grader announced the following awards Five fat lambs, shorn, Down .crosses, over 501 b James G. Wilson 1, O. E. Vile 2. Other pens were disqualified for not complying with weight conditions. Five fat lambs, shorn, Longwool crosses, over 501 b three entries were disqualified for not complying with weight conditions. Three fat lamba, shorn, Down crosses, not over 50Ibs, and not less than 451 b James G. Wilson 1. Other entries disqualified. Three fat lambs, shorn, Longwool crosses, not over 501bs and not less than 451bs—All disqualified. Three fat lambs, shorn, Down crosses, under 431bs—Sir James G. Wilson 1, W. Reid 2, O. E. Vile 3. Three fat lambs, shorn, Longwool or Longwool crosses, under 421bs— W. Reid 1, J. McKoLvie 3, G. E. Vile 3. The guessing competitions with value of carcases are estimated to bring in £SO. Th« gate takings show an increase on last j'ear.
