A MEMORABLE SCENE.

Received Feb *l, noon. London, Feb 12 The Daily Chronicle’s Polish correspondent states that Putzig, a seaside resort in the Baltic, was the scene of a memorable ceremony on the 10th. Polish cavalry under General Haller, rode fetlock deep into the waves symbolising that Poland’s territory once more reaches the Baltic. A Polish troop completed the occupation of the corridor separating West Prussia and Dantzig. The populace boisterously welcomed the troops and the roads were garlanded with flowers. In the presence of detachments of British, French and other Allies, and amid the booming of guns, Haller’s cavalry rode into the half-frozen waters of the Gulf of Dantzig. As they rode back from the sea they dismounted, and closed round the flag staff, Catholic Bishops dedicating the Polish colours. Haller drew off a golden ring and flung it far seaward, crying “As Venice symbolised her marriage with the Adriatic so we Poles symbolise our remarriage with our dear Baltic. ”
