BRITISH COAL MINERS

United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. London, Feb 11 In accordance with the promise made by Mr Lloyd George to the Miners’ Federation the report of the accountant appointed by the Government to investigate the finances of the coal industry has been issned. He finds that the estimates on which the increase of six shillings per ton and the subsequent reduction to ten shillings per ton were based were reasonable, but the revenue was underestimated to the extent of about thirty million sterling, due to undervaluation of exports and bunkers. The report considers an increase of 3s per ton instead of 6s would have sufficed, and he estimates that there will be a surplus on 31st March next of six million sterling.
