Mr Thomas informed the Labour Congress of the result of the deputation to the Premier demanding that Government shall provide work for the unemployed, stating that if the State could build a great Navy in the State yards it could use the yards to build merchant ships. Mr Thomas stated that the Premier admitted that it was the duty of the State to find work for the unemployed, and he would regard any State failing to do so as a barbarous State.- The Premier appealed to the deputation to settle the iroumoalders dispute which was responsible for much unemployment.
