BULLS NOTES.

DEFENCE CLUB'S BALL.

F rom Our Own Correspondent. Rangitikei Defence Rifle Club held a very successful Fancy Dress Ball last night in the Town Hall, Bulls, and there was a very large gathering. The decorations of the Hall did credit to the decorators and the kowhai blossoms blended well with the green of the ferns on the stage, and there was just enough bunting displayed to add colour without spoiling the effect. The music was supplied by Edwards' Orchestra and was a distinct success. The Misses Cameron kindly played during the supper dances. The supper went'off very well, but owing to the numbers present there had to be several relays. The ladies are to be congratulated on their management of it. The floor was in very good order and some of the members must have pub pienty of elbow grease into it to bring it up to its fine surface. Some of the ladies' fancy dresses ware both good and original and it was hard to say whoso was the best. The men's were not so numerous and, with exceptions, not so good as they might have been. Trophies were given for thß best in each class and a vote was taken which resulted in Mrs J. Marumaru as "Ruination" being first for the ladies, and Mr Gifford as "Miss Smith" being first for the men. Both these were very good and "Ruination" carried her bottle on high as a lure to her victims, whilst "Miss Smith" looked charming with her fair hair down her back, though the said hair might have been of finer texture, Tho following is a list of Ihe fancy costumes as far as I was able to ascertain : Mesdames J.
