Sn connection with Mr Ferricks’ statements in the Senate, cabled yesterday, Mr Arnold, solicitor tor Yesfcey Bros., states that the suggestion that Professor Gilruth or any •Other Government official in the Northern Territory, is or was interested in the firm of Vestey Bros, or the North Australian Meat Company was incorrect. He also denied inferences that Vesteya is connected with the American Meat Trust. Vesteys is wholly British and is not connected with any trust or combine.

In the House of Representatives the Minister for Home Affairs, replying to questions regarding the Port Darwin episode, said Professor Gilruth asked for eleven months’ holiday and was granted six, and he is still drawing salary and house allowance as Administrator. He is now in England where he is doing certain work for the Customs Department.
