MARTON DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL.

Marton D.H. School Committee’s monthly meeting was held on Tuesday evening. Present: Messrs J. J. McDonald (chairman), J. Barrington, E. Fletcher, J. D Gorrie, E. Hutchins, T. Low and L. F. de Berry, headmaster. Headmaster’s report showed attendance good. A number of gifts have been received—books, pictures, rose plants and a fine case of stuffed birds. Votes of thanks were passed and the secretary was directed to write to donors. In Navy League Essay‘Competitions the School gained three Ist prizes, one 2nd, and five highly commended out of four classes of essays. A good exhibit is being sent to the Palmerston North Show. A holiday was granted for People’s Day at the Show, " A letter was received from Board advising that two new 400 gallon tanks will be provided. The secretary reported having received the sum of £SO, per Mr J. Robson, being donation from the Citizen’s Band recently dissolved. A further donation of crockery, etc., is to be received shortly. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the members for these handsome gifts, which will be of large benefit to the School and scholars.
