PEEP O'DAY.

From Our Ov/n Correspondent,

A very enjoyable evening was spent last Friday in Mr W. J. Beard’s woolshed, the occasion being to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs George Watt and family, Miss Watt and Wrtt brothers. There was a very large gathering of friends from all over the district, from as far south as Palmerston North and as far as Kuahine. The guests of the evening were recipients of valuable presents, from eldest adult to youngest child. Mr K. McKenzie made the presentations in a suitable speech wherein he enumerated the good the Watt family had done for the district. Mr G. Watt responded for Mrs Watt and family, Mr J. Watt for Miss Watt, and Mr W. Watt responded for himself, and it was v/ell worth coming to hear him. The function was carried through without a hitch under the able management of Mr C. F. Barlow. Great credit reflects on Mrs and Miss N. Beard, Miss Jenkins, and Mr Barlow for the splendid style in which the hall was decorated. The supper was provided by the ladies each bringing a basket. Every lady must have done her best for the supper was excellent. Everyone had plenty and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The music was supplied by Mr Gibbons, assisted hy Messrs Clench, Ireland and Jenkins, and Extras were played bj r Miss K. Edney and Miss Murphy. Items were rendered by Misses McNeil, Edney, N. Beard, E. Beard and Messrs S. Beard, Seeker and Frances, songs. Master John Watt and Mr Clench, recitations. Each responded to the encore.

There was a dance between each item and everyone present will have pleasant memories of o the]evening for many a long day.
