THE ATHENIC TROOPS.

® Per Press Association. Wellington, September 1. The Atlieuic with draft 277 berthed at 3.55 *p.m. Her complement comprised 442 troop, 385 wives and 57 children. The vessel cgme via Panama Canal and touched at Newport News. The trip was uneventful and there is no sickness aboard. A great crowd on the wharf welcomed the troops ■ and the soldiers’ wives, and the Patriotic Society’s Baud played selections. Only Wellington and Nelson troops left the vessel to-day.' The Nelson men left by the Kaitoa this evening. Details for Auckland and district will leave by special train from Thorndou at 12.30 p.m. ||to-morrow. Those for Palmerston North, Wanganui. New Plymouth, Napier and (iisborne will travel by mail train, leaving at 8,20 a.m, Napier borne men connecting with another train ac Palmerston, and those for stations between Wellington gnd Dongburn will leave at 8 a.m. Picton and Blenheim details will leave by the Mapourika on Wednesday at noon. Other South Island men are proceeding to Dytttelton by the Atlieuic, which will leave at 7 a.tn. to-morrow.
