Front Our Own O orrespondent. The following Taihape poultry fanciers secured prizes at the Mauawafcu Show: Rev. W. F Stent, three prizes and Mr O. E. Ay re’s championship trophy for Rhode Island Red ; Mr R. J. Cunningham 3, two for Rhode Island Red, one for silver Wyandotte, two for Golden Wyanclote,. and four for White Wyandottes Mr J. McKenzie, one for American Leghorn; and Mr B. A. Fraser, one for Orpington. A special general meeting of the shareholders of the Otaihape Farmers’ Meat and Produce Company was held on Wednesday to consider a. scheme for improvements to the freezing work at Taihape. It was explained by the chairman that various improvements were necessary, as the works could not cope with the increased supplies of stock during the bus}*- period. The suggested improvemens were outlined in detail, and the majority of the shareholders present favoured going in for the full scheme of improvements. The following resolution was carried: That this meeting authorise the directors to canvass the district in order to raise the necessary capital to carry out the full scheme of improvemeouts at an approximate cost of £35,000. The death occurred at Taihape on 17th inst. of the infant sonof Mr and Mrs Howard, aged seven months. At a meet ng of the Mataroa Junior Football Club it was decided to offiliate with the Unions and enter a team for the competitors. The following office bearers were elected: —Patron, Mr R. W. Smtb, M.P., ;President, Mr W. Dockney, vice-president, Messrs Siddle, M. Bennett, J. Thurston, W. Brown, McDonald, Connolly, Sinclair, Bray, Ash, Williams, R. O. Cleaver, and C. Cleaver; captain, A. Dockney; vice-captain, A. McDonald; commitee, Messrs Thurston, Brown, and Bennett; selection committee, Messrs Dockney, Brown, and Thurston.

The second of the series of euchre parties in aid of the Convent funds was held on Wednesday, and was a great success. The gentleman’s prize was won by Mr F. Ham ill, and the booby by Mr Frank Thurston. The lady’s prize was won by Miss Keane and the booby by Miss Kate McLaughlan. At a social following the inducton of the Rev. J. C. Loan as minister of the Taihape Presbyterian Church, the Rev. J. McCaw, Moderator, was presented with a cheque on behalf of the Presyterians of the district. The Rev. P. H. Hall, who had officiated prior to the induction of the Rev. Loan, was also made the recipient of a cheque in appreciation of his services. The following are the prize winners in connection with the skating carnival held on Thursday evening: —Best costume, Miss Williams; gent’s costume, Mr J. Whenuaroa; most graceful couple, Miss Ormond and Mr McGowan; best lady skater, Mias Williams; best gentleman skater, Mr Tyson ; racing event, Mr Max Dowling. According to the report of the District Health Inspectors to the Wanganui Hospital Board at its meeting on Wednesday, the whole of the Main Trunk area has been organised to provide against a recrudescence of the epidemic. Mr A. J. Joblin, of Taihape, who represented the Wanganui Education Board at the recent Town Planning Conference, states that the suggestions made were one part practical to one hundred and fifty parts ideal.
