NATIONAL DAIRY SHOW.

The concluding dav of the Manawatu A. and P. Association’s National Dairy Show yesterday was not attended by such a large number of people as was expected, says the Manawatu Times, probably owing to the showery weather in the morning, and the possibility of its continuance in the afternoon. In the morn- I ing there were comparatively few . people on the grounds, but later on | more came out to witness the hunting and leaping competitions on the oval. The Association has been particularly unfortunate of late years as far as weather conditions are concerned, but the fact that the quality and quantity of exhibits improves year by year is sufficient evidence to show that, despite its disabilities, its work is going steadily ahead and that it is on the way to attain what it is striving for, in becoming the leading Association of its kind in the Dominion. Looking at it in retrospect, it will be seen and admitted that with the war scarcely over, and the country still existing under abnormal conditions, the Association has achieved a very fine result of„their efforts in the exhibition just over, and that its prospects, if it continues to run on its present progressive lines, are brighter than at any time in its history. . . .. The main attraction for the ge \eral public at the Show yesterday was the hunting and leaping competitions in the oval. This provided a very excellent display both of horsemanship and jumping. In spite of the greasiness of the ground owing to the morning’s downpour, not one horse fell and no rider was unseated, which goes to show that the standard in these competitions were exceptionally high.
