Per Press Association ' Christchurch, February 19. In the Supreme Court to-day, Cecil William Brauigau, fields’ inspector at Ashburton, was awarded £2OO damages against Geo. William Leaaloy, farmer, for libel contained in a letter to the Secretary for Agriculture, plaintiff claiming that the following words. “Placing him in the power and at the mercy o£ some whisky-soaking crawler who probably never did an honest day’s work in his life, ” lha defendant referred to him, and meant that he was a drunkard and loafer and unlittea to hold his office of fields’ in spector or any other responsible nosit ion.
