Semi-official: Montdidier fell owing to a combined ".movement on the right wing and the ‘ Third French Army, commanded by General Humbert. The Journal states that strong enemy columns are advancing in forced marches from Cambrai, Peronne and St. Quentin. Fighting southward of the river is reported at different points The French progressed along the south bank of the Avre and reached the outskirts of L’Echelle and St. Auriu. We repulsed a local attack this morning northward of Kemmel, taking prisoners and slightly improved our positions eastward-of Robeca. GERMAN PROPAGANDA. Sydney, August 13.
