ON THE WEST FRONT.
THE COMING CLASH. CAUSES GERMAN GL 00MY FORE BOOINGS. PREPARING PEOPLE FOR' SACRIFICES. Amsterdam, Feb. 25. The German war press is beginning an inspired campaign in order to prepare tiie public for fresh sacrifices on the Western front.
The army command is evidently fearful of 'the depressing effect the coming operations may have on the country, and particularly stress the argument that the enemy must bear the guilt of t'ao terrible things which must result from their refusal to enter into peace negotiations. The Vossischo Zeituug says: “The most monstrous and terrible thing is now awaiting on the Continent. Never in history will the memory of this terrible February be effaced. We stand before two tragic alternatives—victory or decline. Our best blood must flow and bitterness and pjiu outer into German homes, but we are sure of victory. ’ ’ RAID BY AMERICAN TROOPS. Paris, Feb. 26 American troops raided the German trenches and captured 22 prisoners and a machine gun.
