TURAKINA NOTES.

From Our Own Correspondent. Mr Adams, a fireman on the morning train of Wednesday, met with a painful accident at Turakin* station. His arm came into violentcontact with the tablet on the platform, with the result that the muscles were bruised and torn. First aid was rendered to the sufferer, and ho was thou taken by the train for medical skill. It will be some time before he is able to resume work. Tho Bible Class was resumed on Wednesday evening after the summer holidays. While the soldiers are enduring hardships ami facing wounds and death, the racing fraternity are off to tho Wanganui Races to see how much money they can win from each other by betting on the results of the races. Quite a stream of motor cars have passed tearing along the road in their haste to bo present in time. The result will he the usual one, an incrc sed amount passed through the totailsator in a time of stress and war when the very existence of tho Empire is in danger. ,
