At the annual meeting of the Now Zeal aid Institute the President's address was devoted unduly- to emphasising the groat importance of scientific research, and urging greater encouragement by the Government. The time had come for Now Zealand to face seriously tbo problem of tho utilising of by-products, and creating secondary industries. Tho suggestion that Gorman and Austrian names should be removed from the imp of New Zealand was condemned to-day by the president .of the New Zealand Institute, Processor Benhara. Ho termed the proposal as ridiculous and highly undesirable. Books of travel would he made unintelligible. If any proposal of the kind was about the Institute should enter a strong protest.
