Per Press Association. Wellington, -lan. 20. The Defence Expenditure Commission met to-day to discuss tho preliminaries"of the Commission, which is directed to inquire and report on financial and economy of financial administration'of the Defence Department and other dep -.rtments acting with it during the war, with reference to the following matters; 1. Headquarters and other administrative branches of the service. 2, Methods of control or supervision of expenditure. Pay and allowances of Defence Forces or ot civilians engaged in services in relation to war.

4 . Military stores, equipment and supplies. 5. Military camps. C), Transport of troops. 7. Hospital ships. 8. Military hospitals. 5). Medic 4 and dental examinations end treatment.

10. Military Service Boards. 11. Ail other matters involving public expenditure for purposes of war.

Tho Commission has power to call and examine witnesses and call for documents and records. The report is to be completed by June JOth.
