BURNSIDE MARKETS. I Per Prese Association.) Dunedin, Jan. 23. At Burnside market 159 fat cattle were yarded, consisting of a large proportion of prime bullocks and heifers. The sale opened on par at last week’s rates, but prices cased as the sale progressed. Prime bullocks "made up to £2l os, medium to £l6 10s, prime heifers to £ls ITs Cd. There was a good yarding of store cattle, which sold at advanced rates. There were very few dairy cows forward, and prices were firmer. There was a small yarding of calves, which'sold at late rates * Fat Sheep—A considerable portion of the yarding was prime quality wethers and ewes. The sale opened about last week’s rates, but eased as it progressed to the extent of Is Gd to 2s, a head. Fat lambs-At the beginning of the sale prices showed a rise of about 2s on last week’s rates but towards the end lambs were almost unsaleable. Pigs—There w r as a moderate yarding. Prices of fat pigs showed a slight decline on last week’s rates. * There was a fair yarding of stores, and prices were ou*a par with late rates. STOCK SALES. Dalgety and Co. Ltd., Palmerston North in conjunction with Messrs Abraham and Williams Ltd., and N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., report having held a very successful clearing sale on account of Mr J. A. Morrison at the Huuterville yards on Monday, the 31sb instant. There was a good attendance and spirited bidding throughout. ; Quotations Sheep: —Cull lambs (Is Gd, sm-11 mixed lambs shorn 10s lef, shorn wether lambs 13s Id, shorn ewo lambs 15s Id, mixed aged ewes 33s 9d, cull ewes 11s 4d, 4yr. ewes 21s Id, 6-th. ewes 28s 10d, 4-th. owes 30s (Id, 2-th. owes 2Ss, fat owes 29s 4d, 2 and 4-th. wethers 24s 4d, light fat wethers 32s lOd, mixed ago rams 11s. Cittle: —Empty heifers £5, rough 2yr. steers £7 ss, 13-months steers good colours £8 12s to £9 2s, 2,1.(yr. steers 11s Id 3 and 3>{,yr. bullocks £l4 Ms (id, 4yr bullocks £l6 3s, daily cows £8 15s to £l2. Hacks £8 to £8 10s.

Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their first annual Weaner and Young Fair at the Pal merstou North saloyards on Wednesday, 23rd iust. There was a very fair Remand for better class of weanors but bad colours and low condition sorts were neglected. Quotations;— Cull weanors 15s to 2lis, medium weaner heifers 36s to £2 ss, medium weaner steers £2 10s to £2 11s, very fair weaner steers £3 to £3 10s, best mixed weanors £4 to £1 1 Ss, very good S. IT. sorts 15 mouth heifers £4, 15 month rough steers £5 10s to £6 12s [Gd, store cows £6 I os.

We had a a small entry of sheep and cittle at our Palmerston North sale on Thursday 24th, inst., which sold as below. Quotations; —Sheep: Small shorn lambs 10s Gd, very fair shorn lambs 13s 3d to 13s 6d. Cattle: Small weanors 325, 15 month heifers £4. 15 mouths steers £G 4s. store cows £4 3s Gd. Loan and Mercantile report at Palmerston North on Thursday we had a fair yarding of both sheep and cattle. There was a slightly bettor enquiry for sheep and cattle soiling at recent prices. Quotations; —I' 1 . M, ewes 22s Gd, aged ewes lUa (id to 12s Gd, 15 mouth heifers Tito £3 10s. 2yr Jersey steers £7 Gs, aged store cows £3 to £5, fat cows £9 10s to £l2 12s Gil, good heifers in milk £l2, 2yr S.H. hull £ls.
