CANTEENS IN CAMP.

NOW RUN BY DEPARTMENT. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, Nov. 16. The canteens and hairdressing saloons at Foatherston and Tauberenikan camps wore taken over by the Defence Department to-day, and in future wills.be run solely in the,in terosts of soldiers. The men have been notified that no cash will be taken at the counters of the canteens, the diningroom or the hairdressing saloon at the camps. All payments will be made by tickets, which will ho sold in the ticket stalls, and may bo purchased either for the exact amount required or in cards of 12 tickets, valued from 2d to Is per ticket. Tickets of higher values will also bo available. Holders of unused tickets may have the value refunded at the ticket stalls before leaving camp. The order does not prevent soldiers treating each other or visiting civilians to refreshments, but no civilians will be served at any of the canteen dingingrooms or hairdressing saloons without a permit signed by the camp commandant. AI 1 ranks have been warned that it is a serious offence to make purchases at the canteen on account of unauthorised persons, but soldiers may make purchases for their own families living outside the camps.
