ELECTORAL BOUNDARIES.

MEMBERS COMPLAIN.

JBy Telegraph—'Special to Manawatu Times. WELLINGTON, Last Nihgt.

The House ut once showed its approval to-day when the Prime Minister stated that it is intended to set up a Commission to inquire into the details of the Defence expenditure. The matter was raised by Mr Parr (Mt. Eden), who said there was a good deal of discussion in the House and country over the huge monthly expenditure ”of £2 200,000. He hoped the Premier would give the House an opportunity of discussing the matter, and whether Cabinet would be prepared to establish a Board of Control.

Mr Massey replied: "If it is possible for a Parliamentary Committee to deal with this matter this session I will, be pleased to refer it to them. I doubt however, whether it will be possible for a Parliamentary Committee to do justice to the important questions which have been raised.”

A member: "There ought to be .a permanent Board.” Mr Massey: "The Government is considering the question of setting up a Commission to go into the whole question of Defence expenditure.” (Hear, hear.) "Wo have so much work before the Cabinet that it has not been reached, but a decision will be arrived at before the session ends.”
