22ND REINFORCEMENTS.

Per Press Association. Christchurch, Oct. 1(1. The Christchurch quota of the 22nd Reinforcements, which leaves for camp on Wednesday night, is 121) short, only 150 men having so far been secured out of .271) required. This is the first time for montns that Christchurch has been unable to fulfil its requirements, and it is many mouths since the shortage has been so serious. Recruiting has been very slack in tiie city of late, and it is feared that the end of the district’s resources from the voluntary standpoint lias been reached. In support of this it is pointed out that thirty men have been, so far, secured for the 23rd Reinforcements, going into camp next month. Wellington, Oct. 16.

For the 22nd Reinforcements, mobilising this week, 1607 men have attested so fax 1 , leaving about 1200 required. The Recruiting Board observed to-day that this draft will probably be the last wherein men will have the opportunity of enlisting on a purely voluntary basis. It lias been decided that enlistments shall now be confined to the two drafts on hand.
