CARNARVON NOTES.

From Our O.wn Correspondent. A very successful concert in aid of the local Red Cross Guild was held in the Clydesdale Hall on Friday evening last The hall, which had been tastefully deqprated for the occasion, was filled to overflowing with an enthusiastic audience who showed their appreciation of each itein by the amount of applause given. The first part of the programme was put forward by the local school children and their performance reflected great credit on their teacher, Mr E, Tregiirtha, one or two of their items being really splendid. The following children assisted -.—Mabel McKelvie, Molly Watson, Elsie and Doris Tregurtha, Merle Reeve, Winnie Clare, Eva and Dolly Reeve, Eileen and Maud Florence, Florrie Shalur, Nancy Scott, Ernie Young, Donald and Logan- Scott, Bert Watson, Lyndsay Whisker, Willie Tamplin, Charlie Florence and Roy Shalur, During the interval Mr Young, of Messrs Jones and McGregor, Bulls, showed his qualities as an auctioneer, and succeeded in obtaining the the sum of £si 5s for two boxes of potatoes, which had been kindly donated towards the Guild. The second part of the programme was put forward by visitors from Feildiug, Sanson, Bulis, Rongotea, and one or two local artists and consisted of the following:— Pianoforte solo, Mrs Barron, encored; duet, Messrs McTate and McGee, encored; Scotch reel, The Misses Cameron, encored; song, Mrs H, A’Court, encored; violin solo, W. S. Penny, encored; song, T. McGee, encored; song, Miss Raiue, encored; duet, Mrs Nicholson and Mrs Tregurtha, encored; song, E. Tregurtha, encored; song, Mr Young, encored: song, T. W. Tate, encored. The following played the accompainments: —Mrs Barron, Miss McKenzie, Miss Raine, Mr Campbell, Penny and Mr Edwards, before singing the National Anthem the chairman, Mr C. Reeve, moved a vote of thanks to all who had helped to make the concert a success and especially the singers, several of whom had come a good distance. The visitors were afterwards kindly entertained to , supper by the ladies.
