Sire, Montrave Mao .(9958); Dam, Maggie of Ballinton (1452); Sire of dam, Jordonshaw (3343). ARNAGOUR (16439) is well known as a grand, big-sized, capital breeding horse, with first-class feet, well set pasterns, and broad, flat bones, with the best of action. He stands 17 hands high, is a horse of great substance, and. has in his veins the best of blood. Ho is built like a cart, horse all over. He was stud horse on the estate of 0011, belonging to the trustees of the late Colonel Stuart, for the last four years, and as a stockgetter has few equals, if any. Colts-and fillies got by him were first at Salen for the last three years, and also won four championships, all showing that farmers may rely on having a sire to improve the breed in this district. TTia sire, “ Dunure Blend ” (11691), is a great horse, and won first honours at Kilmarnock, and is also a sure stockgetter. Gr. sire Montrave Mac (9958) is favourably known as a first-class breeding horse, a son of the renowned “ MacGregor ” (1487), out of the Champion Cawdor Cup mare, Montrave Maud (11786), by the Merryton “ Prince of Wales ’’ (673). One of his sons, “ Bylvander,” is a typical draught horse, and winner of first prize at the Autumn Show at Glasgow in 1899, and second at Edinburgh in 1900. His dam, Maggie of Ballinton (14542) is a superior mare, and the dam of many good ones, and she traces back to the wonderful Topsman (886), winner of first prize at London, and many more too numerous to mention.
