CORRESPONDENCE.
[To The Editor.] Sir,—l was very much disgusted 'o read, in last night’s Advocate, a speech by Mr W. A. L. Bailey, previous to Mr Veitch’s address. Mr Briley says that Mr Guthrie is a good fellow but he had not the necessary ability to fill the position be occupied, and that his (Mr Bailey’s) party now had one in Mr Morrison (?) Does Mr Bailey judge all men’s ability by bis own statement? I think, sir, the speech was quite cruel and uncalled for, but quite in keeping with the Ward party’s tactics, viz., to abuse the Goeyrnment all yon know how ; and it on that score Mr Bailey judges Mr Morrison’s ability is quite right, for a more bitter and abusive speech has never been in this electorate. As to Mr Gutlnie’s ability, we have only to see what frantic efforts are being made by the Opositurn party to capture his seat to know how they value Mr Guthrie s ability. First we had Forbes, Isilt, then Wilford and Yeitch, with a promise of Wilford again and War;! himself to help Mr Morrison to bat him.—l am, etc., ELECTOR.
