About 8 last night, near Whakaronga, a train from Danuevirke ran, over a man lying on the line Bight trucks passed over him, literally cut him in pieces. Letters found in his packets showed that he was a surfaceman, residing at Ashhursfe, named Patrick O’Connor, who had been on holiday leave at the Pending Races. He bad relatives at Dannevirke and Hastings. Dunedin, December 1. George Edward Taylor, an elderly man residing at Owaka, took a bad turn at Dunedin railway station this morning, and expired on the way to the hospital. He had been suffering from heart trouble.
