He made a short flight and dropped into the sea, where he became waterlogged. Pickles and Kauper were in a perilous position, but boats rescued them The seaplant will be sent back to Southampton for restarting. London, August 18. Owing to a heavy swell at Yarmouth the floats of the seaplane Nuer Rose, became water-logged and it drifted seawards. The engine stopped and the pilot and mechanic were imperilled. They were rescued after fifteen minutes buffeting. The enigne was flooded. Besides suffering from sunstroke, Harry Hawker has severly strained his eyes through discarding goggles and is suffering from head pains because he did not use a silencer on the engine. It is doubtful if McLean will start in the Dally Mail’s contest owing to. continued engine trouble witbf his Short biplane.
