ADVANCE OHINGAITI.

People travelling the Main Trunk Line cannot help but notice and admire the large v and up-to-date general store just completed at Ohiugaiti for Mr T. C. Berry. It is really quite a credit to the township and we think that the public of that township should be well pleased to have such a nice building in their midst. The shop itself has a depth of 61 feet, with a frontage of 48ft. The outside walls and roof are covered completely with corrugated iron. A “bull-nosed” verandah is in front of the shop, 48 feet long by 9 feet wide. Asphalt footpath with imitation brick work is in front of shop, - Tire grocery department is 29 feet by So feet with a bevelled front counter along two sides and end. A beautiful four-deck stand is placed up, the centre of the shop. This part is well lighted with a large skylight in roof, two large windows in front, and two large windows at side, the whole lined throughout.with T. and G. lining. The ceiling is 12 feet high. The office is lift, by 12ft. square, with 12ft. ceiling lighted with one window in. side and one window facing shop. An S-foot school desk* is built of kauri'timber. There is a brick chimney and all lining throughout is done with T. and G. The drapery department is a room 35 feet long by 30 feet wide, partitioned off from the grocery department and entered by a door in front of shop under verandah, or. by a door leading from'grocery to drapery department. There are six lights in the grocery department, three lights in drapery department, two lights in storeroom, ono light in office, and they are ail covered with fancy globes. In the building is used the very best of timber, the blocks being all of heart of totara.

Mr Berry’ deserves great credit for this splendid bit of work, which is an ornament to the town, and we are sure the. public must appreciate what he has done., 1 Some of. our larger towns would be pleased with such a building. There is a large and varied stock of groceries, hardware, crockery, basketware, drapery, boots, etc. —a really up-to-date stock'. Mr Berry’s staff are. very attentive and obliging and very much respected - We wish him every success in his business.*
