Per Press Association. Wellington,. November 5. The House met at 3.30. The House met at noon to consider local Bills. Wanganui Harbour District and Empowering Bill No. 1 and No. 3 were struck off the Order paper. Opunake Harbour Amendment and Hawke’s Bay Rivers Amendment Bills were read a third time and passed. The House resumed at 2.30. The report on Public Health was presented by the Hon. Rhodes. The report is dealt with elsewhere. MOUNT LYELL SUFFERERS. Mr Russell asked the Premier what steps the Government intended to take in connection with the_ relief of relatives of those killed in the Mount Lyell mine disaster. The Premier replied that the Government would consider the matter to-morrow. They had to remember that £IOOO had had to be transferred to the miners’ relief fund, which was in a bankrupt state. Also that the Government had practically to take over the maintenance of the Waihi Hospital since the strike commenced. BARMAIDS’ REGISTRATION BILL. The House went into Committee on the Barmaids’ Registration Bill. A new clause was added, on the motion of the Premier, providing that every person who on the passing of the Licensing Amendment Act, 1910, was entitled on application to be registered as a barmaid, but who failed to make application within the time limited, shall be entitled ■ to be registered as a bar-, > maid, if the application is made by her in the prescribed manner on or before the Ist June next. 1 LAND AGENTS’ REGISTRATION BILL, ' In Committee, the Land Agents’ Registration Bill was considered. The Premier accepted an amendment pronbsed by Mr Statham, which provided* that licensed auctioneers carrying on private business as land agents’should be brought within the scope of the Bill. Another amendment made to the Bill extended the period within which a land agent shall tender an account of sale to the vendor from 14 to 28 days. ' . . , A clause providing that land agents shall pay a f ee of 10s .every time they change their address, was struck put. . -r, •]. The Barmaids Registration Bill and Land Agents’ Registration'Bill were read a third time and, passed. The Plumbers’ Registration Bill was committed, and the House adjourned. The House resumed at 7,30. _ The Plumbers’ Registration Bill was reported with minor amendments from Committee. RAILWAYS AUTHORISATION BILL. The Hon. Fraser moved the second reading of the Railways Authorisation Bill. The idea of the Bill was to enable the Department to make surveys and estimate the probable cost of contemplated lines. In most of the lines proposed he thought light lines would be suitable. Sir Joseph Ward said the Bill was to be’ commended, because it did not authorise any expenditure on proposed railways.
