Per Press Association. Wellington, November 4. The Council met at 11.a.m. The Native Laud Amendment Bill was further considered in committee. Sub-section ' 3, of ■ clause 7, was amended on the motion of the Minister to read as follows: —The provision of section 209,' of the principal Actiwith respect i : tp ; thepfecedent consent- of tli e Native ,Land Board*, to alienations of native land, and with respect to alienations made in pursuance of such consent, shall be deemed to extend and apply and at all times to have extended and applied, to alienations of undivided interests in native land and to alienations of part only of any area of native land owned by the same owners, and shall be deemed at all times to have authorised the granting of two or more concurrent consents in respect of different alienations of the same land, and the granting of any such consent on application of any one or more of the owners who are parties to the proposed alienation without the concurrence of other owners. ’’ :

The following Bills were read a second time in the Legislative Council Public Reserves and Domains, Ellesmere Land Drainage, Westport Harbour Board, State Eire Insurance, Amendment to Military Pensions, Government Life Insarance.

The Ellesmere Lands Drainage Amendment State Fire Insurance, and Military Pensions’ Bills passed all stages. In Committee, on the Government Railways Bill the following amendment was introduced by Governor’s message•“ No solicitor, counsel, or agent other than a member of the Department recognised by_ the Minister for the purpose of this section, shall appear to be heard on any appeal, but the appellant shall appear in person or by another member, or by the secretary of any such society authorised, and the Department shall appear by some member appointed by the Minister in that behalf.”

On the motion of the Minister an amendment was agreed to remodelling the manner in which County Councils may acquire reserves and hold them in trust until a Domain Board is formed.
