MARTON A. & P. SOCIETY.

MEETING ON FRIDAY NIGHT. For a considerable time a number of the business people in Marton have been making strenuous efforts to form a society of the above nature, and in this, object they have been specially aided by the chairman of the Marton Chamber of Commerce (Mr F. R. H. Brice) and its members. The project has now assumed a tangible form, and a meeting of -the farmers and business people is advertised to take place in the Coronation Hall, on Friday evening, at 7.130 o’clock.

Marton as a show centre is undoubtedly one of the best on this coast, and is well served by an excellent railway service, trains arriving at early morn from Wanganui, Palmerston N., and Taihape, and the express trains arriving at midday. ' The question of a show site will be discussed, and it is understood that the Marton Racecourse and the Marton Park are both favoured by different sections. ,A unanimous decision is necessary in order to make the show a success, as a split in the party over the Question of a site would be detrimental tp the proposed society. The district round Marton is admir ably adapted for pri z'e and fat stock, and the Rangitikei has always been ,noted for its hunters and draught horses. It should be possible also to arrange for a display of farming and agricultural implements, and there is no reason why the large firms of the. Dominion should not make this centre their showground. Those interested in the formation of the above society are . invited to attend. , , >
