FIRES.

Per Press Association. Otaki, October 18. A disastrous fire broke out shortly after 1 o’clock this morning, when several buildings belonging to the Hombersley Estate were buried to the ground. The outbreak occurred in JLivesey’s pie shop. An bid unoccupied house adjoining, and Bills, Moore and Carpenter’s large storerooms containing stock valued at £250, were also destroyed. A Chinaman’s shop was also burned. 'A bucket brigade rendered valuable services and saved several buildings. Mr Byron Brown had £2OO worth of machinery destroyed in the storeroom. Insurances: Bills, Moore and Carpenter £IOO >in the Royal, and Livesey £IOO in the Alliance.
