Messrs Harry Reid and Co. announce they have taken over the Marton Junction stables, and are prepared to offer the best accommodation. The firm intend running a palace car to and from Marton railway station and for the convenience of residents at the Junction will run the car every Saturday evening, returning from Marton at 9.15. Messrs Reid and Co will also start a carrying businegss.

We understand, says the, Manawatu Daily Times, that Mr Edward Newman, of Marton, intends to ho a candidate in tho Opposition interest for the Manawatu electorate at the next election. Mr Newman was for many years a member of the Rangitikei County Council, and has also sat on tho Wanganui Education and Hospital and Charitable Aid Boards, and is now chairman of the Marton Branch of the Farmers' Union. Mr j Newman has all the qualifications for tho position of representative, and will no doubt receive the support of all in Manawatu who desire to

see this country governed bettor and more economically.

A quiet wedding was celebrated at All Saints', Palmerston North, on the 24th instant, the contracting parties being Miss Ethel F. Knight, eldest daughter of tho late *" Mr William Knight, of Newbury, and i Mr Frank Grace, second son of the late Mr Charles Grace, of Loudon. The brido was given away by her uncle, Mr Henry Knight, of Lower Flu ft, and was attended by Miss Amy Knight (sister of the brido) as bridesmaid. Mr .Toe Knight (brother of the bride) was best man. After the ceremony the happy couplo drove to the residence of the bride's mother, where the wediling breakfast was held, and left by the late train for Rotonia.
