MAIN TRUNK LINE.

For Press Association. Auckland, April 17. Tho Commissioner appointed by the Auckland Railway League reports that ho visited tho north end of the Main Trunk Lino works last week, and found tho work progressing splendidly, and tho most confident opinion is expressed all round that will be comparatively easy to finish right through by the end of 1908, given good weather.. Ho is satisfied tht by August next there will bo a clear run to Makatoto Yiaduot, and that beyond that both tho Maugatoki and Mangonuiotioao Viaduct will bo out of the contractors’ hands before next Christmas. With the rails at Makatoto on tho north and at Ohakuno on the south there will be*a gap of little over 13 miles between the rail heads, and by February next, or possibly early in March the gap will bo reduced to eight miles.
