SUPREME COURT.

At Nelson yesterday W. Bettany, jun., was sentenced to two years for appropriating belonging to an estate for which he was a trustee.

At Napier a native named Parotohe got 12 months for carnally knowing a Maori girl under 16. J. M. Smith was found not guilty of indecent assault on a girl. A Maori named Kurukura, for forgery, was admitted to probation for three years. , At New Plymouth a jury after being looked up for 12 hours failed to agree in tho case of F. Fontanella, charged with theft. D. James was found not guilty of assaulting and attempting to carnally know a littlef curl. For indecent exposure H. W. Cave ;was, fined J 610; an d ordered to find sureties for good behaviour for two years, in default one . year. Decrees nisi were granted in Drury v. Drury, wife’s petition, oh ground of adultery, and in Taylor v. Taylor, wife’s petition, respondent now serving sentence for incest.
