Quarterly Meeting. T> ;■ quarterly meetirg of the Frankim Licensing Committee was held in the Pukekohe Courthouse on Thursday; present- Messrs F. V. Fraser, S.M- (chairman), W Richardson, W. C. Mot.cn J. Schlaepfer, J. D. Chalmers and r. McGovern. satisfactory reports. Reports from the police stated fhat the various licensees in the rijtrict were observing the law reBftdirK the supplying ot liquor to votfibs under 21 years, and no comnlaints had been made. The reports were received, the Committee extheir pleasure at the satisfactory nature of them.

PAPAKURA HOTEL. Th. j temporary transfer of the licetse cf ihe Papakura Hotel (ram W Parkinson to Sara Waterman was applied lor. It was proposed that Mrs Waterman, who was an elderly lady with a long experience, should be aviated in the management by her son. After hearing the evidence of Mrs Waterman and her ton the Chairman announced that three of the Committee, leaving himself out, were in favour of the application and two against, but all would be in favour if (he license were in the name of the son. Mr Turks (for applicant) pointel out that a) Mrs Vaterman was purchasing the hotel she would prefer to have the license in her name. It was only a temporary transfer, and at the end of three months the Court could see ho* Mrs Waterman had conducted the hotel. Finally, the application was granted by 3 to 2, the Chairman *bstainii gjrom voting, the Committee intimating that they would prefer to see the license transferred to the son. The police reported that certain improvements were required at the Papakura Hotel. Mr 'lunks undertook on behalf oi Mrs Waterman to have these attended to. LEAVE OF ABSENCE. Mr W. Richardson was granted six months' leave of absence.
