AT THE SHOW.

Cattle and Sheep. In "making up" the introduction to our Show report the type set concerning the sheep and cattle classes got aomewhat mixed. The descriptive matter should have read OATILE. The cattle judges wera also generous in their praise of the improved quality of the stock. Some of the beat pedigree Shorthorns in New Zealand were on the ground. The Holsteins were especially fine, and the Jerseys included A. Moreland's champion boll, Brighton Twylish-a five-year-old that has never been beaten in a shuw ring. The yearling boll of a local breeder, A. E. Wilkinson's Snowdon, was selected for reserve champion. Mr More land alio showed the champion female, the two-year-old Majesty Eileen. In grade cattle the Jerseys made the best showing. A. E. Wilkinson's Blossom, which was champion in the dairy class last year, had to be content with a C this season when shown as a grade. C. A. Willis and the Wilkinsons were the principal prize-takers. The grade Ayrshires were a good lot, W. K. Law ton, of Pnkeowate, taking 2 firßts and 3 seconds. The fat classes were not very well tilled, but perhaps the biggest framed bullock ever seen on the grounds was shown by Koulston Brothei s SHEEP. The cattU* in this district are displacing the sheep to such an ex--1 tent that the displacement is re- i f fleeted at the Show by the great ' improvement in the cows and the lessening exhibits in the sheep classes. These breeders, however, who remaiu still maintain a very high-class quality in their stock, In Lincolns, C. T. Barriball scooped the pool; W. Taylor did the same in Border Leicesters. In Komney Marsh, A. D. Bell took must prizes, including the ewe championship, but J. P. Kelly showed the champion ram.' In the fat classes the Karaka Land Co. were the most successful exhibitors, the mo:al of their tine displav beir-g to point to the productive future of the once despised Karaka country. ===== I
