Reporting on traffic control within the county to last week’s meeting of Piako County Council the traffic inspector, Mr. P. C. Bantam, said the campaign against defective and faulty lights had been Intensified. A high percentage of accidents on the road occurred at night, In many eases the cause being dazzling or Insufficient lights. A recent accident in the county. which proved fatal, was said to have been caused by the driver being blinded by oncoming lights. A high percentage of faults could be found in those vehicles used only during working hours and which required lights only at the end of the day. Tests were being undertaken to ensure that lights were correctly focussed.
